I'm Michael Barmish. I find the story. Then I tell it.
Most organisations have a story worth telling. They just haven't found it yet, or haven't figured out how to make it land. That's where I come in.
I've spent thirty years working at the intersection of story and communication. As a produced screenwriter, including Love in Whitbrooke (Reel One Entertainment, UK/Canada) and Kid Cop (Brainstorm Media, US) among others, I understand narrative at a structural level: what makes an audience lean in, what makes them disengage, and what makes something stay with them. I bring that into every workshop, facilitation session, and corporate engagement I take on.
I currently lead the MA Screenwriting programme at MetFilm School Berlin, and have delivered storytelling workshops, communication programmes, and facilitated retreats for major clients. Earlier in my career I spent eight years as VP of Client Services at Final Draft — the industry-standard screenwriting software used by virtually every professional writer in Hollywood, managing relationships with studios, production companies, and over 15,000 clients worldwide.
Born in Philadelphia, relocated to Hollywood, currently Berlin. My love of travel produced The Ensuite Life: Traveling the World and Avoiding the Toilet at the End of the Hall — a travelogue I remain unreasonably proud of. Moving from Hollywood to Berlin was either a bold creative decision or an elaborate attempt to compare the German brezel to the Philly pretzel. No contest. Philly for the win!
